Gretchen and my Goddaughter- Gretchen showed up Friday AM and forced me out of my bed. She had pretty pink tulips and a card. I returned the favor with white tulips today. On Friday we went out to lunch after I picked up her daughter at school.
My Girls- There is a small group of girls who were my students last year that I am quite close to. They have caught on to Mr. Math and I and are going their best to make sure that we get hooked up. While it sounds odd, it is actually quite cute; Mr. Math and I get a chuckle out of it all. So, Our Girls (as we call them) gave us a cute card and a $25 gift certificate to a resturant in town. They actually gave it to him on Thursday after his hockey game. He gave it to me later that night.
Mr. Math- I joined him and his friends on Friday night for dinner and drinking. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed eachother's company lots; we are crafting up a plan to hook up one of his hockey players with one of Our Girls. At 12:05 he looked at his watch and smiled across the table, "Happy Valentine's Day! You know, it is the 2nd most important day of the year!" I laughed and told him I had predicted that was all I would get for Valentines Day. Later, after I was sitting next to him, he told me my real Valentines Present: "So, that other thing... yeah, well, it's dead." I of course did not believe him and joked it off. To which he replied, "No, really, that other thing is dead, it is over, really." Come to find out that while he isn't ready to talk about it yet, he broke things off with her and they are really over. It is dead and they had the funeral. He told me there will be no more phone calls and no more e-mails with her, it is done. I was and am still floored.
For Valentine's this year Mr. Math gave us the gift of giving us a chance. It is quite possibly the best gift ever. (Goodness know that was all I got!)
We spent Friday night together at his house and while we didn't sleep much we enjoyed each other lots.
I think we're OK.
