Drank a cup o' reality at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004
I was actually going to update the other night, but alas, the teeny-boppers were taking up all of the space.
I'm in Southern MN for the day, I drove down late last night. Not exactly sure what all I have to do here today as I'm sitting in Gretchen and her boyfriend's house (minus them) drinking coffee, in my jammies and thinking about grading papers.
Maybe I'm just here to spend a little quality time intereacting with people, something that I don't always get around to on the weekend. Gretchen and I sat up last night watching the Gopher hockey game, playing with her new puppy and talking. I will say that one nice thing about living 2 hours away is that Gretchen and I have great chats when I come to stay here. I look forward to her boyfriend (Marty) heading downstairs so that she and I can gossip gossip GOSSIP!
Remember Crazy Mary? The Art Teacher from the Sad-Small-School? Since I moved, we had been talking like every day and she was slowly sucking the life and joy out of me... then all of a sudden she stopped calling... I went days and days without hearing from her... it was over a week. I called and e-mailed and I never heard back. I thought that she was gone.
But, I did go birthday present shopping for her (beacuse she spend upwards of $85 on my b-day)... but I've kept the receipts.
So, I thought that I was going to be $50 richer after this weekend. I had every intention of not seeing her and being able to return the gifts. But, alas, yesterday as I was driving here, she called.
The Mary situation along with all of my relationships from my time at the Small-Sad-School are under review. I keep in touch with fewer and fewer people from there. More and more I am begining to realize that I'm leaving Albert Lea with not muchmroe than I arrived here with. It is bittersweet.
