This is the 2nd time I have had a situation like this in my life. And there is a pretty big lesson in it: Not all things need to be harassed, over discussed, over analyzed, or picked to shreds. No bridges need to be burned down or taken apart. Sometimes the best solution is no solution at all. Sometimes the best Band-aid is no Band-aid. It is OK to let things air out, scab up and fall off with out picking. I need to be better about remembering that.
I spent a lot of time with The Farmer learning about patience. I need to be able to apply it. There is nothing wrong with allowing everyone enough time to catch their breath.
Often, I’ve found that in friendship a little space is the best medicine.
So, I’m following the recommendation of Dr. Bevin (who is actually only qualified to sue the hospital, but that is a technicality). We have diagnosed me with a severe case of Missing and Pining Away for Mr. Math. On Dr. Bevin’s recommendation, and keeping in mind the success of the above, I will be treating this condition by not treating it. I’m gonna’ let him catch his breath, leave well enough alone and not pick this to shreds.
All of that to say, I’m not e-mailing him until next Friday (or we decide to go visit him which ever happens first!).
